Weyerhaeuser awards grant in Natchitoches

The Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund will support the 2025 Work Natchitoches Summit with a grant to the Natchitoches Economic Development Alliance (NEDA).

The $10,000 grant will be used for ongoing workforce initiatives of NEDA, including expanding the Work Natchitoches Summit. The summit is an event that invites more than 450 high school and college students to engage with regional employers. It especially connects with the largest employment sectors, which includes manufacturing.

Weyerhaeuser, part of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), has been awarding grants since 1903. It's Giving Fund that helps support community initiatives across the United States and Canada was established in 1948, totaling more than $266 million.

NEDA Executive Director Laura Lyles said the Work Natchitoches Summit helps prepare students and those looking for work in the Natchitoches region.
