Time to register for 74th annual meeting!
Registration for the 74th annual convention of the Louisiana Forestry Association began today!
LFA members will be receiving brochures in the mail this week and can send in their completed registration forms with payment by mail or they can register online for the Aug. 24-26 in-person event at the Golden Nugget Resort Hotel & Casino in Lake Charles.
We are excited to hold the annual meeting in-person after a year in hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of our members have expressed much enthusiasm for the event, which is going to be held in one of our most popular places in Lake Charles.
There will be a full slate of speakers to provide great information concerning the forest products industry, but equally important, we will have a chance to fellowship and share a handshake or a hug.
The annual meeting begins Tuesday, Aug. 24 with the President's Reception in the second-floor foyer. Then, members and their guests can select one of the several restaurants available at the Golden Nugget.
On Wednesday morning, we get down to business with presentations from Brooks Mendell of Forisk, JP Fontenot of North American Timber Program and Paragon Insurance., and Jeff Wright of SilviaTerra. Then we'll honor the 2021 Louisiana Tree Farmer of the Year.
The afternoon the Logger Seminar and Landowner Seminar will be held, along with and LFA Board of Directors meeting.
Wednesday night, the Outstanding Louisiana Logger will be honored at the evening meal and folks will be entertained by hypnotist Erik Kand.
Then on Thursday morning, attendees of the breakfast will hear about the state's economy, including how the forest products industry fits in all of that, from economist Loren Scott.
