Think safety when salvaging timber

Homes being lost from a major storm is very tragic, without a doubt. Our prayers go out to those recovering from Hurricane Laura.

Damage from the storm extends to crops as well, including trees, the No. 1 agricultural crop in Louisiana. And that means loggers will ply their important trade in salvaging what timber that can be salvaged.

Logging is a working environment where safety is paramount, and they will be the first ones to acknowledge that. In the wake of Hurricane Laura, however, the Forest Resources Association (FRA) is reminding logging contractors of its importance as recovery beings and salvaging timber begins.

FRA President Deb Hawkinson is sending out a link to a video the organization produce titled "Storm Damage and Salvage Safety." Distribution of the video to FRA members and contract loggers could help keep safety top of mind.
