Prescribed fire for agriculture workshop set
The LSU AgCenter and Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry will hold a workshop about prescribed fire at noon Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Rosepine Research Station in Leesville.
The workshop will enable forest landowners to burn their lands safely and legally, according to an LSU AgCenter press release. Topics will include fuels, burning techniques, proper tools, optimal weather conditions, smoke management, liability management, planning, fire behavior and more.
This training will begin the process of becoming Louisiana Certified Burn Manager. The completion of five prescribed fires and their documentation will complete the process. The workshop is free, but class size is limited to the first 25 applicants.
To sign up or if you have questions, call 337-463-7006 or email hawkins@agcenter.lsu.edu.
