LFA to hold mini conference Nov. 4

The Louisiana Forestry Association 2021 Mini Conference will be held Nov. 4 at the Holiday Inn Alexandria - Downtown.

The event is a way for LFA members to come together in to learn, have fun and honor the Louisiana Tree Farm of the Year and Outstanding Louisiana Logger. Also, Master Loggers and Foresters can earn four CE credits for attending the event.

"The Mini Conference is going to be a great way to reconnect with people and further our discussion of the Louisiana economy and our logging and trucking insurance markets," said LFA Executive Director Buck Vandersteen.

The day begins with 9 a.m. check in, with the program kicks off at 10 a.m. with Louisiana economist Loren Scott outlining the state's economic outlook and how the forest products industry fits in with that. Following the morning program will be a luncheon where George and Merlyn Giltner will be honored as the Louisiana Tree Farmer of the Year.

Following the luncheon, JP Fontenot will be featured at an afternoon Logger Session, talking about insurance markets for loggers and timber haulers. Then, the Outstanding Louisiana Logger Randy Broadway of R&B Logging will be honored.

"In this abbreviated one-day program, we look forward to having great attendance." Vandersteen said.
