Learn forest management, earn CEs
The Louisiana Logging Council, Drax Biomass, Hunt Forest Products, LaSalle Lumber Co. and Kisatchie National Forest are offering an opportunity for loggers to learn about Complimentary Forest Management, At-Risk Species, Timber Extraction and Restoration efforts on the Calcasieu District.
The event is set for Thursday, Oct. 24. Attendees must RSVP not later than Monday, Oct. 21 by emailing to jay.hayek@drax.com.
After sending an RSVP, attendees will meet at the Louisiana Forestry Association office, 2316 S. MacArthur Drive in Alexandria and will travel to six different stations. Calcasieu District Ranger Jonny Fryar and his staff will lead the tour that will discuss management strategies and how to co-manage at-risk species, timber extraction, ecosystem restoration and other issues.
The six stations include:
• Prescribed Fire & Wildfire
• Timber Harvest Operations
• Louisiana Pinesnake Release Site
• Louisiana Pearlshell
• Red-cockaded Woodpecker Cluster Site
• Forest Recreation & Lunch.
