Three arrested for theft of cypress logs in Franklin Parish
Three men are charged with stealing almost $9,000 worth of cypress logs on Franklin Parish, according to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. LDAF and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries joined in an investigation that led to the Nov. 30 arrests of Michael Shane Harris, 42, of Wisner, Ronnie Bert Mason, 48, and Daniel Neal Chapman, 39, both of Jonesville.

Timber Tax Workshop set for Dec. 15
The LSU AgCenter will hold a Timber Tax Workshop from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 in Baton Rouge. The workshop is open to the public, but is limited to the first 75 spots. Attendees must RSVP to Dr. Shaun Tanger at stanger@agcenter.lsu.edu no later than Friday, Dec. 7. It will be held at 214 Efferson Hall on the LSU campus.

Challengers try to shake incumbent in Secretary of State race
Five of the six candidates for Louisiana Secretary of State found common ground in a forum Monday evening as they each tried to shake interim Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin’s perceived confidence in his incumbency. There was little hostility between panelists since they were not allowed to address each other directly. But, a few managed to sneak in some indirect jabs with just over a week to go until the Nov. 6 election.
